well, well well folks,

A while back on my myspace page, I was really not happy about the presidential election. When the major debates for the nomination process started, John McCain was last on my list. I wanted to see firstly Ron Paul, then Mitt Romney, then Rudy Giuliani, as I see the three heavily qualified with their acumen in politics, business, and experience in government.

McCain is a war hero, but you have to question how much of the post traumatic stress disorder is still in him. He is known to have some hardcore spats on the senate floor. But what really ticked me off, was his vice presidential pick, Sarah Palin.

You see, John McCain would of had my vote, if for chance, he would of picked up either Mitt Romney, Joe Liberman, Tim Pawlenty, or Bobby Jindal. Unfortunately, he picked Sarah Palin, which i feel only has experience as a hockey mom, and with a scary batch of executive power, took out the bridge to nowhere, and maybe cut off some corruption in Alaska.

That might be good on a municpal or state level, but what about Foreign Policy? What about overall experience matched with a knowledge for economic stability? Governor Palin can only speak for 663,000 people, the populace of Alaska. With Oil and Fishing being the big industries up there, she cannot speak for the finanace, technology, medical, and I am sure a few other sectors of the economic kaleidoscope.

I am sure she is nice, but can she lead? She is no Margaret Thatcher, and sure as heck, No Cristina Kirchner or Angela Merkel for that matter. I would of rather seen George W. Bush as the VP, sad to say.

The minute something happens to a frail John McCain, Sarah will take over as president. Governor Palin, no doubt wouldn’t know the first thing about running this country. President Bush probably could do a better job, but what a scary thought. She is only a heartbeat away from the presidency folks!

Barack Obama’s VP nod, Joseph Biden, is a great senator, although leaning left, has well over 30 years of experience in the senate. Biden has overcame personal tragedy, and has been in foreign policy committees and is knowledgeable in that sector of politics.

Barack Obama, is a commanding speaker, who is calm, poised, and ready to take this nation and improve the financial crisis. Yeah, taxes might be raised, so I will probably not want to push past $250K in annual income for a good while. Yeah things might get regulated, but it might help us for right now.

Obama, as Michael Smerconish has opined and I surely agree with on this one, has stated that Obama being president, will help innercity blight issues. How you may ask? Obama will be one heck of a mentor and role model for those who don’t have anybody to look up to. Barack Obama can reach troubled youth in a way no other elected official could ever fathom possible, and this is a major selling point.

Amazingly, Not only has WPHT 1210 Personality Michael Smerconish swung over to the Obama bandwagon, but also 4 Star Retired General Colin Powell.

Now it is my turn to defect from the G.O.P.

Signed,
Thomas Howell
